Getting Medieval @ Renaissance Faire

chessboard
This past Sunday I attended the annual Kutztown University Medieval Renaissance Faire.  It’s sponsored by the Renaissance Club of the university and is held every year on the weekend before spring semester finals.  The giant chessboard you see is actually for their live action chess game which club members choreograph and put together using themselves as pieces.  Cool fights with medieval weapons are also done, my friend and I watched some of members fence.
Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing rules of the administration at Kutztown U each year the event seems to get smaller and smaller.  They used to have food venders, but in the interest of being brats the school decided if you don’t use the schools food service you cannot have any. There were some nice items for sale like chainmail jewelry and such as well.

This is my friend Cara wearing a chainmail necklace that she bought.  I love all the different bright colors.
All in all it was a nice outing.  I got to hang out with a good friend enjoy the nice weather and went home with a kumrc T-shirt that I bought.
